RAJINI ON BIG B
A popular television channel recently aired an opinion poll on who's the popular star – Amitabh Bachchan or Rajnikanth? A majority of the voters favored Rajnikanth.
However Rajnikanth was quick to react. The Super Star of Tamil Cinema, whose Sivaji has witnessed a phenomenal opening all around the globe, has openly stated that he is no comparison to Amitabh Bachahan.
"I admire Amitabh and I am his ardent fan. No way, I can be compared to the Big B", he says and adds, "If I am a king then Amitabh is an emperor".
Rajnikanth took a dig at the media for comparing him with Big B.
Sivaji has witnessed bumper opening not just in Tamilnadu but also in neighbouring Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In abroad, it has matched the collections of several blockbuster Hindi movies in the recent past.
FRIEND'S WORD ABOUT RAJINI KANTH
A friend in need is a friend indeed, they say. Raja Bahadur, a retired bus driver, is one trusted friend of Super Star Rajnikanth. Raja Bahadur watched Rajnikanth's much-hyped Sivaji on Friday in Bangalore. He was thrilled. He had no words.
“My dream has come true. He has become a superstar. I am the happiest person in the world today as Sivaji is being released. Maybe I am happier than Rajnikant's wife”, laughs Bahadur.
This enduring friendship began in the early 1970s when Bahadur drove the then Bangalore Transport Service's route Number 10A that plied between Majestic and Srinagar. It was cemented when the two would unwind watching films and plays in their off-duty hours. Young Shivaji Rao would also act in some plays staged at the Gubbi Veeranna Ranga Mandira in Gandhinagar.
It was Bahadur who spotted acting credentials in Rajnikanth and forced him to take up a career in acting.
“The response he got from the audience, particularly when he played Duryodhana and Yechhama Nayaka, the Kannada warrior, was impressive. It was then I thought he should start acting in movies. But Shivaji was not keen”, Bahadur said.
When Shivaji Rao Gaekwad was hesitant at leaving a government job to take up acting, it was Bahadur who gave him the confidence. “I assured him that I would take care of all his financial needs and made him join the institute”, says Bahadur.
MAMMOOTTY PRAISES RAJINI KANTH
THE GREAT MALAYALAM SUPER STAR Mammootty saw Sivaji in a special screening Thursday in Cochin.
He was in all praise for Rajnikanth for his acting. He also called him a down to earth person in real life.
“Rajnikanth does not have to be starry at all because a halo follows him and his biggest virtue is that he has no pretensions,” Mammooty said.
He appreciated Shankar and Rajnikanth for coming out with a real entertainer.
How did Rajni appear white in Sivaji?
Producer AVM Saravanan and MS Guhan and cinematographer K V Anand got together at AVM studios today to reveal the mystery behind Rajnikanth appearing white in the song ‘Oru Kudai’ in Sivaji. According to Anand it is an attempt never done in the history of world cinema."We tried out skin grafting technology", he said.
The idea was made by Shankar and with the help of Indian Arts we managed to make it a reality. We shot Rajni and an English girl separately and later combined using skin grafting. The Indian Arts took 365 days to complete skin grafting for the 6000 frames in the song. The song was shot for 16 days in Billbaw museum in Spain. It is a result of hard work.
